The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) offers a grant of up to £500 towards the cost of installing a home charging point for electric vehicles. The scheme is open to eligible owners of electric vehicles who have off-street parking.

The EVHS was part of the UK Government’s commitment to support the uptake of electric vehicles and to help meet its target of having one million electric vehicles on the road by 2020.

Installing a home charging point is a great way to make owning an electric vehicle more convenient and can also help to reduce your running costs. The EVHS offered a grant which covered up to 75% of the cost of installation, up to a maximum of £500.

To be eligible for the grant, you must be the owner of an electric vehicle that is eligible for the Plug-in Car Grant. You must also have off-street parking, such as a driveway or garage, and be able to provide proof of ownership of the vehicle and of the off-street parking.

Unfortunately, The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is no longer open. However, it has been replaced by the EV Chargepoint grant. If you had already applied under the EVHS scheme (and is still under review) you don’t need to apply to the new scheme. It’s still open for existing applicants until 31 March 2023.
